Why use a K-line metaphor for a life chart — and where it stops
Candlesticks are good at making a sequence visible: continuity, change, range and transitions. That is why FateKline uses a K-line metaphor. It is a visual language, not a claim that a human life behaves like a market.

What one candle represents here
In FateKline, one candle represents one age year. Its open and close come from a custom structural index that combines a day master's element relationship with the decade cycle and the annual pillar. The high and low add a deterministic visual range so adjacent candles remain readable.
This is FateKline's own visualization rule. It is not a standard measure in traditional Four Pillars practice, and it is not scientifically validated. The exact same inputs produce the same series because the rule is deterministic, not because the line measures an external future.
Why make the rule visible
A chart can look persuasive when its scoring rule is hidden. We publish the broad components precisely to avoid that. The visual is an interface for seeing transitions between symbolic structures, not a model of salary, health, happiness, risk or the probability of an event.
The chart also marks decade-cycle boundaries. Those vertical transitions help a reader see where the input rule changes. They do not mark a deadline, promise an opportunity or warn of a disaster.
The metaphor has hard limits
Financial candles summarize price movements observed in a market. FateKline candles summarize a custom relationship score derived from a traditional symbolic system. These are fundamentally different objects. A rising candle is not 'good'; a falling candle is not 'bad'; neither describes a real-world outcome.
Do not use a K-line to time an investment, decide on treatment, make a legal choice, or judge another person. A chart that invites those uses is overstating what its inputs support.
What remains useful
The K-line can still be useful as a reading aid. It encourages a reader to ask which rule changed, where a decade cycle begins, and how the displayed symbolic relationships differ across years. It makes the calculation inspectable in a way a block of mystical prose is not.
That is the intended use: cultural exploration and reflection, with the calculation and its limits shown in the same place.
